The distinctive call of a Cuckoo heralds the start of spring. Adult Cuckoos will now be in residence in the UK after their winter in far away and far warmer climates with evidence they travel all the way over to Africa to soak up the sun during these months. Who could blame them!
But spring has most definitely sprung in the Lake District and despite the odd snow shower, fairly frequent hail showers and plenty of gale force winds, the flora and fauna is in true spring bloom. The daffodils seem to be more luscious this year than ever, lambs are popping out, jumping up and playing in nearly every field and a hint of green is visible on trees and shrubs.
With everything new, bright and full of life it is the perfect time to take photographs and especially in the Lake District. This is why the Cuckoo Brow Inn at Far Sawrey have launched a spring photo contest through Facebook. Submit a springtime photo taken when visiting the Cuckoo Brow Inn showing this season off to its best. Any subject can be captured, it doesn’t have to be in any way professional but it must be of Cuckoo Brow or Far & Near Sawrey when the inn is located but primarily conveying spring to the upmost. This is a stunning part of the Lake District and full of springtime joy.
If showcasing your photo on social media wasn’t enough, there are 2 fantastic prizes to be won
1. A 2 night Bed & Breakfast break for 2 people at Cuckoo Brow
2. A meal for 2 people at Cuckoo Brow Inn
3. A Perfect Picnic Hamper from Hawkshead Relish
Please note: Winners will be selected based on how many people Like an uploaded photo and then Ranked by Cuckoo Brow Inn. The contest ends on the midnight of 31st May 2015.
