Hotel bathrooms of today have as great an emphasis on them as the rooms themselves. With such innovative, design led bath and shower fittings available it’s no wonder hotels across the world can’t get enough of them.
And Cumbria, the Lake District is no exception here being the place of rural, fell and lake idealism and for complete relaxation after all.
A few hotels have tried to introduce new and distinctive baths and bathrooms but none so far have matched those found at Brimstone Hotel at Langdale. Brimstone Hotel is fortunate to have been a new build development where the location of the baths were designated early on in the build enabling them to be positioned in places that possibly couldn’t have been achieved as a later addition.
First off each bathroom is generously proportioned, even in the entry level Plush Rooms, with separate, tiled shower enclosures. When it comes to bathrooms, luxury has to be that of size as well as fittings. In the Fireside Suites you’ll find the bath located out in the living area with views outside and closer to the wood burning stove.
The Duet Suites are a delight with two fabulous, free-standing Lilye slipper baths by Albion. These baths are located at the foot of the bed, in front of the 42” flat screen TV and have a Champagne and candle friendly ledge in the centre.
But the ultimate is when staying in the aptly named Spa Suites where it’s the bathing experience is taken to another level. The Spa Suites have bathrooms accessed through double doors from the bedrooms and living space and have floor to ceiling folding doors which open out onto the private terrace. The centrepiece is the stunning oval Imperia bath by Castello where hours can be lost relaxing in it whilst at the same time breathing in the fresh, Lake District air. It’s no wonder this suite in particular has been noted on more than once occasion for its “sexy” bath such as in the latest top 10 Between The Sheets: The UK’s Sexiest Hotel Rooms by TopTopTravelTips.co.uk.
Brimstone Hotel is certainly boutique but definitely not brash and bling so for understated, beautiful luxuriousness, then it definitely the next destination. Images galore and individual specifications can be found on the Brimstone website here, http://brimstonehotel.co.uk. Rooms start from £200 per night bed & breakfast when booking 30 days or more in advance.
